10 Foot Radius

Updated: Nov 29, 2017

What if we simply tried to love everyone in our personal bubble?

This summer at Stubenville West, Joel Stepanak gave a special talk to the senior class about growing up in our Faith. There were three major point to his talk that hit home in my heart.

1.) Begin everyday with God.

Sounds simple, right? What if before we ever turned on our phones in the morning, before we checked the latest news on social media or turned on the computer, we instead opened God's Scriptures and read a verse. Perhaps read the Daily Mass readings, or even made a simple, but meaningful Act of Consecration...?

Hpw much different could our lives look if we consciously began each day with Him?

2.) "Love your neighbor as yourself"

This one is a bit more difficult. It's just so much easier to dislike those people that annoy you, teachers, parents, siblings, the list seems to go on and on.

But what if we started out with an easier task?

Love everyone in your ten foot radius.

That way, we can consciously focus on loving those nearest to us. Then, expand from there. It takes work, but starting small helps.

3.) Live a great life

If your life was made into a movie, every action of each day set out on screen by actors and directors, would you watch it?

If not, change.

Sure there's things we have to do everyday that won't ever change. We still must get up, eat food, go to work or do school, but in the moments that we can choose (which really, is every moment) we should be choosing to live a great life. Wasting time on Facebook, browsing Instagram and Pinterest, those things don't exactly lead to a great life in the end. Loving those around you, living for your family, taking time to read God's Word. Those things make a life Great.

Live a life that is great, taking time each day to focus on who you're living for, and loving those in your ten foot radius.
