Hello and welcome!

I started this blog a while back but then never kept up with it so I thought I’d introduce myself again.

I’m Nicole, a Catholic college student starting my junior year at the University of Arizona. I’m studying Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Marine Science. Here’s some quick-take facts about me!

Hobbies: reading (fantasy, middle grade, mystery and classics), writing (mostly fiction short stories and poetry), photography (if you’re really interested you can check me out @wild_raspberry_photography on IG, but it’s not all that great), sewing/quilting, hiking and backpacking (and being outside in general)

Occupation: Student, but I also currently work at a dog daycare place

Favorite ways to pray: Silence, journaling, just chatting with God and the Rosary. Also recently discovered SoulCore which I absolutely love.

A book I think everyone needs to read: The Chronicles of Narnia and the Screwtape Letters

Something quirky about me: I love writing and receiving letters via snail mail, I love chickens and own 4 hens right now

Something you might not guess about me (just from this blog): I’m an introvert, starting conversations scares me and I almost never do it, but I’ll imagine out very lengthy approaches quite often

Favorite Saint: St. Paul, St. Joan of Arc, Bl. Pierre Giorgio Frasatti, St. JP 2, Bl. Imelda, St. Maria Goretti, St. Benedict (well… you know you can’t just pick one)

Current goals: finish the quilt I started two years ago, keep the plants in my garden alive, practice a daily prayer routine, write more stories, practice living out my faith on campus, read the Catechism

Dream summer plans: working as a camp counselor at a Catholic summer camp or a super long backpacking trip somewhere cooler than Arizona

If I become a canonized saint I’d like to be the patron of: hiking and backpacking, baking pies, college students especially in the science fields

Current favorite song: Twistin' the Night Away and Stuck Like Glue (secular), Love Won’t Let Me Down and Restless (worship)

An Epic Quote: “The best remedy for dryness of spirit, is to picture ourselves as beggars in the presence of God and the Saints, and like a beggar, to go first to one saint, then to another, to ask a spiritual alms of them with the same earnestness as a poor fellow in the streets would ask an alms of us.” St. Philip Neri

Why am I starting this blog up again? Well, there’s a lot of things I want to tell the world. Yeah, yeah a blog is not the best way to do that. I know. But, it is a way. I also have found that I do a lot better processing things when I can write them out or talk them over with people. So this will probably more helpful to me as a self-exercise than to anyone else, but maybe these posts could benefit someone, so I’m putting them out there. I also discovered that social media is perhaps not the best place to put really long, deep posts, so this medium will work better I think.

The name shall stay the same. Ten-Foot Radius. Because I still need to practice loving those clostest to me, literally those within reach. (I'll leave the first post up if you're interested where the idea came from!)

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be praying for you, and I ask your prayers as well!
